November 21, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan is actively modernizing energy technologies and infrastructure in accordance with the Green Energy Strategy for 2030 and 2050.

ABC.AZ reports that Javid Abdullayev, the director of the State Agency for Renewable Energy Sources, made this statement, when delivering speech at Demo-Day event of international acceleration program "Green & Digital Silk Road".

According to Abdullayev, the transition to "green energy" implies not only the development of alternative generation, but also full-scale modernization of the country's energy system.

"The construction of new stations, the renovation of existing infrastructure and the strengthening of transmission lines are among the key directions of Azerbaijan's energy policy," Abdullayev said.

He stressed that the country is actively strengthening international energy ties as part of its energy strategy.

"We’ve already achieved real results on energy interconnectors with the states of the Caspian basin, Europe and Asia. These ties strengthen the role of Azerbaijan as a regional energy hub," the agency's director said.

According to Abdullayev, new projects for the construction of power transmission lines will increase the export of "green" energy, especially generated by wind and solar power plants.
