September 26, Fineko/abc.az. U.S. President Donald Trump has announced new industry duties targeting heavy trucks as well as a number of other goods, expanding a trade program aimed at supporting domestic industry by increasing import duties.
ABC.AZ reports that a 25% duty is being imposed on heavy trucks, a 30% duty on upholstered furniture and a 50% duty on kitchen cabinets and bathroom cabinets. The duties will take effect on October 1, 2025.
These tariffs will become part of Trump's policy, covering an increasing number of goods, from steel and aluminum to pharmaceuticals, electronics and robotics.
In addition, starting from October 1, a 100% duty on branded and patented medicines will also be introduced if the company does not build a factory in the U.S. Tariffs will not be applied at the start of construction, Bloomberg writes.
