August 29, Fineko/abc.az. Nike is preparing for another round of layoffs as part of CEO Elliott Hill’s plans to restructure the business and restore growth.
This time, the cuts will affect less than 1% of the company’s corporate workforce, ABC.AZ reports citing CNBC. Nike stated that its EMEA and Converse divisions will be excluded from the process.
“Nike is currently undergoing reformatting. The goal is to reorient toward sport and sports culture, build deeper connections with athletes and consumers, and create products that belong exclusively to Nike,” the company said in a statement. In February, Nike laid off 2% — more than 1,600 employees — as part of a broader restructuring. Hill, meanwhile, aims to make the company more focused on sport and culture by reshaping his leadership team for the new phase.
