July 30, Fineko/abc.az. One of the biggest goals of the Economic ZonesDevelopment Agency (IZIA) is to transform Azerbaijan from an importing country into an exporting country. Great success has been achieved in this area - nearly 50% of enterprises operating in industrial parks are engaged in the export of products. More than 100 types of products are supplied to the foreign market, ABC.AZ informs, quoting IZIA press secretary Elchin Kazimov.

In the interview, he answered questions relating to the successes achieved so far in 13 existing industrial zones in Azerbaijan, the goals set, the possibilities of applying special benefits to local and foreign investors, as well as diversification of Agency's activities in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan.

Agency’s representative first spoke about the work done in the industrial zones under Agency's jurisdiction and the goals for the medium term. He noted that recently, work has been successfully continuing in Azerbaijan to create industrial zones in accordance with the industrialization policy: "Industrial zones are the most favorable investment space in our country from angle of entrepreneurs' investments. The government takes many incentive measures for entrepreneurs. Currently, there are 13 industrial zones in Azerbaijan. Of them, 9 have the status of industrial parks (Sumgait Chemical Industrial Park, Garadagh Industrial Park, Mingachevir Industrial Park, Pirallakhi Industrial Park, Balakhani Industrial Park, Hajigabul Industrial Park, Nakhchivan Industrial Park, Aghdam Industrial Park, Araz Valley Economic Zone), and 4 are industrial districts (Masalli, Neftchala, Sabirabad and Sharur industrial districts).

The management of 11 of the 13 industrial zones (with the exception of the Balakhani Industrial Park and the Sharur Industrial Quarter) is carried out by IZIA. Since its establishment, industrial zones have begun to promote development of the non-oil industry and accelerate economic diversification. We can see these results in launching the production of new types of products, creating jobs, and expanding the country's export opportunities."
