July 10, Fineko/abc.az. Part of the metro development activities within the State Program for Improving the Transport Infrastructure of Baku & Surrounding Areas for 2025-2030 will be financed by a loan from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).
ABC.AZ informs with reference to Baku Metro CJSC that work is currently underway on the preparation of the Baku Metro Expansion Project, which includes investments in metro development, and negotiations are underway with the AIIB and the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
Cooperation with ADB will cover three key areas: improving energy efficiency, efficient operation of metro infrastructure, and the introduction of modern technologies, including AI and data analytics solutions.
By the end of 2025, implementation of a number of activities with the technical support of ADB will begin. At the initial stage, it is planned to study the necessary areas and prepare appropriate technical specifications, form a technical assistance fund and an expert group, as well as take other steps.
The ADB previously announced its readiness to provide up to $1 billion for development of the metro line in Baku.
