April 11, Fineko/abc.az. Egg prices in the U.S. rose again, reaching a new record high of $6.23 per dozen on Thursday.

ABC.AZ informs that this happened contrary to President Donald Trump's forecasts and despite falling wholesale prices and the absence of egg farms where there would be outbreaks of avian flu.

Outbreaks of avian flu were cited as the main reason for price spikes in January and February after more than 30 million laying hens were killed to prevent the spread of the disease.

In March, only 2.1 million birds were slaughtered, and none of them were on egg farms.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, egg prices reached $5.90 in February, a month after setting a record of $4.95 per dozen.
