April 4, Fineko/abc.az. The final decision on an additional increase in the capacity of the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) is to be made in January 2026.

ABC.AZ informs that SOCAR vice president Elshad Nasirov made this statement at the ministerial meetings held in Baku within the framework of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council and the Green Energy Advisory Council.

He added that as part of the first stage of expansion, TAP's capacity will increase by 1.2 bcm of gas per year, and commercial operation is scheduled to begin in December 2026.

"The possibility of further expansion of TAP is also being considered based on the results of market testing conducted in 2023. The acceptance of applications for participation in the tender will be completed in December 2025, after which it is planned to make a final investment decision in January 2026,» Nasirov said.
