April 4, Fineko/abc.az. Given the current realities of the global energy market, we must optimize our priorities, policies, and investments.
ABC.AZ reports that Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov made this statement during his speech at the 11th Ministerial Meeting within the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council and the 3rd Ministerial Meeting of the Green Energy Advisory Council.
According to the minister, despite geopolitical tensions and market volatility, natural gas remains the cornerstone of energy security, a strategic asset and will be a central component of energy for a long time to come.
"This, in turn, requires investments in gas fields and infrastructure. We must make quick decisions based on reality. Otherwise, securing the necessary supplies will generally fail. There is another reality that there is no alternative to diversifying to ensure sustainable energy security. Therefore, obtaining volumes of energy from various sources and along various routes is not only a fundamental guarantee of energy security and independence, but also important for Europe. This issue should remain a constant priority and be addressed at the most important moments. As for the importance of Azerbaijani gas, the SGC is a strategic asset for Europe and an integral part of our plans. In recent years, Azerbaijan has not only maintained its position as a reliable partner, but also significantly expanded the geography of supplies," the minister added.
