July 16, Fineko/abc.az. Ukraine has lost about a third of its grain export opportunities through Black Sea ports.

Reuters informs that according to the Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation, during the grain deal, the ports of the Odessa region - Odessa, Chernomorsk, and Yuzhny - could handle up to 6 million tons of cargo per month. Now, against the backdrop of mutual strikes between Russia and Ukraine, shipments have decreased to an average of 4 million tons of grain per month.

Grain exports remain Ukraine's largest source of foreign currency earnings. At the same time, 90% of shipments, according to Reuters, go through three Black Sea ports.

The Black Sea Grain Initiative was signed by Russia, Ukraine, Turkey, and the United Nations on July 22, 2022. It provided for the safe export of Ukrainian grain from the ports of Odessa, Chernomorsk, and Yuzhny, as well as the facilitation of the export of Russian fertilizers and food products.
