SOCAR starts oil transit from Kazakhstan field via BTC

January 30, Fineko/abc.az. The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) begins transit of crude oil produced at Kazakhstan's field Kashagan via oil pipeline Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC).

ABC.AZ informs, referring to SOCAR, that the first batch of oil from Kashagan field, loaded onto a tanker in the port of Aktau on January 25, amounts to approx. 6,000 tons.

"The cargo arrived at Sangachal terminal on January 27 and will be transported via BTC to Ceyhan port. The first batch is transported on the Taraz tanker operated by Kazakh company KazMorTransFlot," SOCAR informs.

This transit became possible after the signing of an agreement on January 15, 2025 between SOCAR's subsidiary SOCAR Midstream Operations LLC and KazMunayGas subsidiary KMG Trading on the transit of 240,000 tons of Kashagan oil per year.
