January 27, Fineko/abc.az. ExxonMobil and Qatar Energy started drilling an exploration well in the Electra subsurface area west of Cyprus, ABC.AZ reports, quoting the President of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides.

He added that Cyprus continues exploration work, striving to become an alternative and reliable source of natural gas for the EU.

Electra-1 exploration well is located within Block 5 of the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of Cyprus and is aimed at a promising facility that may contain up to 30 trillion ft3 of natural gas.
