January 6, Fineko/abc.az. The administration of the current U.S. President Joe Biden plans to increase sanctions pressure on Russia, targeting tankers carrying Russian oil above the established ceiling of $60 per barrel, ABC.AZ reports, referring to sources close to the situation.

The new sanctions involve restrictions on ships from the fleet of aging tankers, which Russia uses to circumvent the current restrictions of Western countries, the newspaper writes. One of the interlocutors told the agency that the U.S. could impose a large package of sanctions against Russia.

Another source added that the sanctions are likely to also include measures against individuals trading oil at prices above the limit.
