December 29, Fineko/abc.az. Since January 1, 2025, Gazprom has been limiting supplies to Moldova to zero because of contract violations by the Moldovan side and refusal to settle arrears for supplies, ABC.AZ informs, referring to Gazprom.
Thus, due to the refusal of the Moldovan side to settle the debt for gas supplies, Gazprom sent a notification to Moldovagaz on December 28 that the Moldovan side regularly fails to fulfill its payment obligations under the current contract, which is a significant violation of its terms.
"In this regard, based on the provisions of the contract and the applicable norms of Russian legislation, Gazprom PJSC introduces a restriction on natural gas supplies to Moldova to 0 cu m starting from 8:00 Moscow time on January 1, 2025 per day," Gazprom says.
The report notes that the restriction will remain in effect until Gazprom notifies Moldovagaz otherwise in writing.
According to the holding's statement, Gazprom reserves all its rights, including the right to unilaterally terminate the contract and the right to demand compensation from Moldovagaz for all losses and payment of fines for non-fulfillment and/or improper fulfillment by the Moldovan company of its obligations under the contract.
