December 27, Fineko/abc.az. Over Jan-Oct 2024, Azerbaijan imported 2,592 electric vehicles for $104 million, which increased imports by 7% year-on-year.

ABC.AZ informs that most of country's demand for electric vehicles is provided by Chinese-made vehicles.

During this period, China sold 2,013 cars that makes up 77% of the electric vehicles imported by Azerbaijan. The total value of these imports reached $73.6 million. The growing influence of the Chinese automotive industry on the global market is also having impact on the electric transport market in Azerbaijan. Over Jan-Oct 2023, 2,004 electric vehicles ($71.12 million) were imported from China.

In addition to China, electric vehicles from other countries were also imported during this period.

Thus, Germany became the second largest supplier, with 198 imports of electric vehicles for $14.6 million. For Jan-Oct 2023, 217 electric vehicles were imported, with import value of $19.68 million.

The U.S. ranks 3rd with 283 cars and $7.7 million. Although the UK shipped only 15 vehicles, the total cost of these vehicles was $5.7 million.

Other notable suppliers include Belgium (15 vehicles, $1 million), Italy (8 vehicles, $672,000), South Korea (19 vehicles, $443,000) and Japan (9 vehicles, $93,000).
