China increased exports and imports in August – Figures

In August, China increased exports by 8.7% year-on-year up to $308.65 billion, ABC.AZ reports with reference to the General Customs Administration of the People's Republic of China. Thus, the indicator reached its maximum in 23 months. At that, increase was the most significant since March 2023. Imports grew by 0.5% up to $217.63 billion.

Analysts on average predicted an increase in exports by 6.5%, imports by 2%, according to Trading Economics.

Exports from China to South Korea grew by 3.4% last month, to the countries of the European Union - by 13.4%, to the United States - by 4.9%, to the ASEAN states - by 8.8%.

Imports from South Korea increased by 13.3%, ASEAN - by 3.5%, India - by 3.2%, Russia - also by 3.2%. Meanwhile, supplies from the European Union decreased by 4%, Japan - by 3.8%, Great Britain - by 2.1%, from the USA - did not change.
