August 26, Fineko/abc.az. In a bid to prevent potential fire hazards, South Korean authorities are set to implement new regulations on electric vehicle charging.

ABC.AZ reports, citing motor.ru, that public charging stations will now have a cut-off point at 80% charge, while electric vehicles with battery levels exceeding 90% will be prohibited from entering underground parking facilities.

The decision comes in the wake of a recent high-profile incident where a fire broke out in an underground parking lot, affecting 880 vehicles, with 140 of them completely destroyed.

The culprit was identified as a Mercedes-Benz EQE electric car, which reportedly burst into flames without any apparent cause and was not even connected to a charging station at the time.
