Phil Schiller to join Board of Directors of OpenAI

July 3, Fineko/abc.az. Phil Schiller will join the Board of Directors of OpenAI as part of the deal with Apple.

ABC.AZ reports that he will be able to attend all meetings and monitor how decisions are made, but will not have the right to vote.

A similar person on the OpenAI Board of Directors represents Microsoft.

The agreement will enter into force at the end of this year. Schiller has not yet attended any meetings of the OpenAI Board of Directors.

Phil Schiller has been the head of Apple's marketing department for 23 years. Since 2020, he has been an honorary advisor to the company.

Apple has announced its partnership with the OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT into iOS 18. Apple will receive an "observer role" on the OpenAI Board of Directors as part of the agreement.
