Forecast: 1.5 bcm of gas to be extracted from Absheron field in 2024

June 7, Fineko/abc.az. It is expected that 1.5 bcm of gas will be produced from Absheron field located in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea this year.

ABC.AZ reports that SOCAR presented information about this at the Caspian Oil&Gaz oil & gas exhibition as part of the Baku Energy Week.

523,000 tons of gas condensate are to be produced at Absheron field in 2024.

Since the beginning of production at the field (July 2023) until 1 May 2024, 1.2 bcm of gas and 484,000 tons of condensate have been produced.

Currently, production is underway as part of Stage 1 of production from Absheron field. The gas is intended for the domestic market of Azerbaijan.

At the initial stage, approx. 1.5 bcm of gas will be produced from the field annually, and in the future – 5 bcm.

The reserves of Absheron field amount to 350 bcm. It is the second largest gas field in the Caspian Sea after Shah Deniz field.
