June 5, Fineko/abc.az. The commissioning of two solar and one wind power plants, the foundation of which was laid yesterday, will diminish emissions into the atmosphere and the volume of gas used in electricity generation.

ABC.AZ reports that Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said about this at the Baku Energy Forum, held within the Baku Energy Week.

He added that work is currently underway on creation of a "green" corridor that will stretch from Azerbaijan to Europe, and negotiations are underway on the accession of Central Asian countries to this corridor.

The minister noted that Azerbaijan aims to expand the Southern Gas Corridor.

Shahbazov added that Azerbaijan transports 24.3 bcm of natural gas annually through the specified corridor, of which 12 bcm accounted for Europe.
