June 4, Fineko/abc.az. The Heydar Aliyev Baku Oil Refinery, operated by Azerbaijan's state oil company SOCAR, is gearing up to start producing gasoline compliant with the eco-friendly Euro-5 standards this June, ABC.AZ reports, referring to SOCAR.

This move comes on the heels of the refinery's successful transition to Euro-5 diesel fuel production in May 2023.

"In May 2023, the refinery began production of diesel fuel on Euro-5 standards, and in June 2024, the enterprise plans to start production of gasoline on Euro-5 standards," SOCAR informs.

According to SOCAR, the refinery has recently commissioned an isomerization unit and an MTBE unit as part of its ongoing reconstruction and modernization efforts. These upgrades are crucial in enabling the production of cleaner, more environmentally friendly fuels.

The company also reported that over the past 70 years, the plant has processed about 370 million tons of oil.
