Azerbaijan earned $120 million from cherry export for past 3 years

February 14, Fineko/abc.az. Over the past 3 years, Azerbaijan received about $120 million from export of cherries, and this figure grows every year.

ABC.AZ was informed at the Ministry of Agriculture that cherries grown on a total area of 12,000 hectares are one of the most massively grown fruits in Azerbaijan – cherry orchards are available in 65 districts of the country.

By area, the largest number of cherry orchards is located in Khachmaz district (4,422 hectares). The area of cherry orchards in Guba is 2,317 hectares, in Gusar — 800 hectares, in Shabran — 595 hectares, in Shamkir — 233 hectares, in Agdash — 220 hectares. Guba-Khachmaz economic region accounts for about 45% of the production of cherries, which are demanding to humidity.
