Georgia reduced gas imports from Azerbaijan in 2023

January 26, Fineko/abc.az. In 2023, Georgia imported 2.254 million tons of natural gas (about 2.9 bcm), which is 0.2% less than in 2022.

ABC.AZ reports with reference to the Georgian Statistics Service that gas imports from Azerbaijan last year amounted to 1.84 million tons (decline of 4%) for $314 million (a drop of 9.2%). Natural gas supplies from Russia grew by 16.5% to 486,000 tons and in value terms - by 18%, to $131 million.

Georgia’s gas imports from Iran increased by 4-fold in value terms up to $142,000.

In the structure of natural gas imports, the share of Azerbaijan decreased to 78.5% from 81.6% in 2022, the share of the Russian Federation to 21.5% from 18.5%, the share of Iran was 0.003%.
