November 29, Fineko/abc.az. "We import gas directly from Azerbaijan, the Caspian Sea region, to ensure our energy security."

ABC.AZ reports that Romanian company Transgaz’s director general Ion Sterian stated about this.

He added that Romania plays a very important role in the central-eastern region of Europe, supplying gas to Moldova.

Sterian noted that the country no longer depends on Russian gas and also supplies natural gas to Moldova through several suppliers: "Since January 2021, gas transit through the Trans-Balkan Corridor has stopped, but Romania has found alternative solutions."

Ion Sterian highlighted the creation of a corridor for direct gas imports from Azerbaijan, the Caspian Sea region, LNG terminals in Türkiye and Greece.

"The launch of the interconnector between Bulgaria and Greece, possible interaction in the amount of 3 bcm of gas have further strengthened energy security of the country," Transgaz’s director stressed.
