November 21, Fineko/abc.az. Natural gas can be sent to the markets of Türkiye and Europe as part of the next stage of development of Absheron field, located in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea.

ABC.AZ reports that Emmanuel de Gilbon, CEO of TotalEnergies-Azerbaijan, said this during his speech at the 10th Caspian Technical Conference.

He added that currently the gas produced at the field is sold on the domestic market, but given that volumes will increase at the next stage of the project, the markets of Türkiye and Europe are being considered for export.

"At the moment, the question is being discussed whether gas supplies will be carried out using the current capabilities of the existing infrastructure or its expansion will be required," he said.

In August 2023, the State Oil Company (SOCAR) Azerbaijan, TotalEnergies (France) and the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) signed an agreement on the sale of a 30% stake in Absheron gas condensate field. Upon completion of the purchase, ADNOC will receive a 30% stake in Absheron gas condensate field, and the share of SOCAR and TotalEnergies will amount to 35%, respectively.
