EU intends to cut gas imports from Russia

November 2, Fineko/abc.az. The EU countries intend to reduce the import of Russian natural gas to 40-45 bcm this year.

ABC.AZ reports that U.S. Department of State spread the relevant statement following the next meeting of the U.S.-EU task force on energy security.

"The EU has significantly diminished its dependence on Russian fossil fuels, including by phasing out coal imports, cutting oil imports by 90% and reducing imports of [natural] gas from 155 bcm in 2021 to about 80 bcm in 2022 and is expected to reach 40-45 bcm in 2023," the document says.
