October 12, Fineko/abc.az. Microsoft reported that the U.S. Internal Revenue Service demanded that it reimburse unpaid taxes in the amount of $28.9 billion.
ABC.AZ reports that this is stated in company's appeal to IRS, in which it disputes the underpayment.
"Microsoft does not agree with the proposed adjustment and will appeal to the Tax Office. The process is expected to take several years. We believe we have carefully followed the rules of the Tax Administration and paid the required taxes both in the United States and in other countries of the world," the company says in a statement.
The dispute concerns the taxation of Microsoft's income received from 2004 to 2013 in various countries and jurisdictions. At that, the company claims that Tax Administration's demand to compensate for the shortfall does not take into account $10 billion paid by the company earlier.
