September 15, Fineko/abc.az. Ford, General Motors and Stellantis failed to reach a new labor agreement with employees represented by trade union United Auto Workers, which marked the beginning of one of the largest strikes in the U.S. in recent years.

The UAW stated it was implementing a so-called strike strategy, in which employees of a small number of Ford, General Motors and Stellantis factories quit their jobs.

ABC.AZ reports that employees will be paid about $500 a week from the UAW strike fund, which is $825 million.

"Tonight, for the first time in our history, we will strike at all companies from the Big Three simultaneously," UAW president Sean Fein said.

Three plants are involved: GM assembly plant in Evansville, Missouri; Ford assembly plant in Wayne, Michigan, and Stellantis assembly complex in Toledo, Ohio.

In total, about 12,700 employees will take part in the strike.
