September 7, Fineko/abc.az. Greek shipping company Empire Navigation pleaded guilty in the case of transportation of crude oil from Iran bypassing US sanctions and agreed to pay a fine of $2.4 million, ABC.AZ reports, referring to Associated Press.

"The Suez Rajan vessel tried to disguise the loading of Iranian crude oil from one tanker from another," the agency reports.

One of the company's lawyers said that it pleads guilty to violating US sanctions against Iran.

In February 2022, the human rights group United Against Nuclear Iran suspected tanker Suez Rajan of illegally transporting oil from the Iranian island of Kharg. Then the ship was detained. It stayed in the South China Sea for several months, and then went to the coast of Texas. The tanker unloaded the oil onto another vessel, which then delivered it to Houston. Court documents confirm that the US authorities confiscated that oil.
