July 25, Fineko/abc.az. The German government plans to invest €20 bn in the production of semiconductors in the country to "stimulate the development of technology and ensure the supply of critical components in the face of growing geopolitical tensions", ABC.AZ reports with reference to Bloomberg.
The government has already approved investments in the amount of €10 bn for construction of a new plant of American processor manufacturer Intel Corp. in Magdeburg. Now the authorities are coordinating subsidies in the amount of €7 bn to expand the activities of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company and German chip manufacturer Infineon Technologies AG.
