July 20, Fineko/abc.az. There are more than 30 bn tons of proven oil reserves and more than 20 trillion cu m of gas on the territory of the Central Asian states. This makes the region the second in the world in terms of oil and gas resources after the Arabian Peninsula.
ABC.AZ reports that Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said about this, when delivering speech at summit GCC-Central Asia Summit in Jeddah.
In his opinion, it is important to develop the transit and transport sector. Currently, the countries of the region are taking active measures to diversify routes and develop various infrastructure and logistics projects. In particular, Kazakhstan attaches priority attention to building the capacity of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR).
"We intend to systematically increase cargo traffic through this route and bring it to 500,000 containers a year by 2030. In addition, Kazakhstan is taking measures to develop the North–South International Transport Corridor," Tokayev said.
