July 10, Fineko/abc.az. Space agency Azerkosmos under the Ministry of Digital Development & Transport has started a project to launch a new satellite into orbit for the purpose of remote sensing of the Earth.

ABC.AZ reports that Azerkosmos chairman of board Samaddin Asadov stated about this.

"This does not mean that the new satellite will be ready immediately. This process takes several years. We assume that in 2025-2026 our new satellite will be put into orbit," Asadov emphasized.

He added that one of the Israeli companies became the winner of the tender:

"More than 20 companies from Europe, Asia and the USA took part in the tender, among which the best Israeli company in terms of price and quality, which is a world leader in this field, was selected. We will disclose the name of the company in a statement we will publish.”

This April, Azerbaijan's only remote sensing satellite, Azersky, completed its mission one year ahead of its estimated operational life.
