MP: number of appeals to banking ombudsman has sharply reduced

12:15 - 10.07.2023

July 10, Fineko/abc.az. The number of appeals to the banking ombudsman is decreasing every year, ABC.AZ reports, quoting Zahid Oruj, the head of the Center for Social Research.

He said that in 2017, the ombudsman received 165 appeals, in 2018 - 150, in 2019 - 89, in 2020 - 55, in 2021 - 31 and, finally, last year - only 26.

"Problem loans as of May 1, 2023 amounted to 591.8 million. However, now we will not dwell on the fact that this figure is less or 0.3% more than a year earlier. If the relevant state and government institutions finally find one-time solutions to the problem among the subjects of the debt burden of half a billion, we’ll not transfer this burden from year to year," Oruj added.
