Türkiye’s antimonopoly regulator informs about launch of investigation against Google

June 19, Fineko/abc.az. The antimonopoly regulator of Türkiye, the Competition Council, informed about the beginning of actual investigation against a group of companies belonging to holding Alphabet Inc.

ABC.AZ reports that this is stated in regulator’s decision on its website.

"The Competition Council made a decision as part of preliminary investigation against Alphabet Inc., Google LLC, Google International LLC, Google Ireland Limited and Google Reklamcilik ve Pazarlama Ltd. Sti. When discussing the information, documents and conclusions obtained during the preliminary study, the Competition Commission considered these conclusions serious and sufficient to determine whether there is a violation of Law #4054 on online advertising and services of advertising technologies. It was decided to initiate a case to clarify company’s economic integrity," the Council said in a statement.

In early February, the Council filed a case against Google, its parent and subsidiaries in connection with the violation of antitrust laws regarding the provision of Internet search services. The regulator conducted preliminary investigation into the abuse by these companies of their dominant position in the search services market.
