March 10, Fineko/abc.az. Unfortunately, climate change has not spared Azerbaijan either.

ABC.AZ reports that Deputy Minister of Ecology & Natural Resources Vugar Kerimov said this at briefing "The causes of water shortage in the country & the current situation".

He noted that Azerbaijan is located in a region with limited water resources: "Almost 70 percent of our water comes from transboundary rivers. In terms of water volume per capita, our country ranks 90th, in terms of water resources we are 140th in the world."

The deputy minister said that the forecasts, unfortunately, are disappointing:

“Water reserves in Azerbaijan have decreased by about 20% over the past 30 years. By 2050, they are likely to decrease by 15-20%. This shows that we have to save water.”
