Hyundai presents a second-generation electric crossover

March 10, Fineko/abc.az. Hyundai has presented the Kona crossover of the second generation, dating back to the 2024 model year.

As in the case of the first-generation Kona presnted in 2017, the electrified version will also be among the new Kona. The only difference is that for the first generation, a gasoline version was first developed, which was then adapted to an electric drive, and this time Hyundai started with the presentation of an electric-powered model, which is the main option.

ABC.AZ reports that the company announced the development of Hyundai Kona 2024 last year, publishing a teaser that gives an idea of the appearance of the new model.

Reportedly, the design of the Kona 2024, belonging to segment B-SUV, has been redesigned from scratch and is now focused on the electric version.

Compared to the previous generation KONA, the new model has unique proportions with increased dimensions. Based on the EV variant, its length is now 4,355 mm, 175 mm longer than the previous generation in 2017, with a wheelbase of 2,660 mm, which is 60 mm longer. Its width is 1,825 mm, which is 25 mm wider, and the height is 20 mm taller at 1,575 mm. In addition, the electric car has an aerodynamic drag coefficient of 0.27.

It is reported that the Kona 2024 received a 217.5 hp engine with a torque of 255 Nm. The power reserve of the WLTP cycle is more than 300 miles (490 km) with a battery capacity of 65.4 kWh. A more affordable version of the Kona 2024 will also be offered with a 155 hp (255 Nm) engine, a 48.4 kWh battery and a 213-mile (342 km) WLTP cycle power reserve.

Other updates to the Kona 2024 include two 12.3-inch panoramic screens in the cabin, a Digital Key 2 Touch digital key, an advanced driver assistance system SmartSense ADAS and a multimedia complex Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC). The software will be updated over the air (OTA).

Kona 2024 also supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology, which allows using its battery as a backup power source for connecting household appliances on vacation or at home in emergency cases. In addition, there is a single-pedal driving mode "I-Pedal".

The release of Hyundai Kona 2024 is carried out as part of the implementation of the goal set by the South Korean automaker to launch 11 new models of electric vehicles by 2030.
