June 4, Fineko/abc.az. A sturgeon breeding plant is being built in Neftchala.
ABC.AZ reports with reference to APA that the data was given by Elshan Mejidov, the director of the Kura experimental plant for breeding sturgeon.
According to Mejidov, part of the pilot plant for sturgeon breeding has been reconstructed in Neftchala, where a sturgeon breeding plant with large infrastructure is being built: "The plant that was built 64 years ago in Yenikend village of Neftchala district is currently being reconstructed with the use of the most modern technological equipment. The goal is to eliminate the threat of extinction of sturgeon offspring in these reservoirs. Some sturgeon breeds will be grown and used for commercial purposes. Fish meat and caviar produced will not differ from products obtained from fish in natural reservoirs. At the initial stage, the plant will produce 100 tons of commercial fish and 10 tons of caviar per year. Some of the products received will be used to meet local demand, while the rest will be exported."
