China's Auto Market Set to Regain Momentum in 2027 Following 2026 Slump

15:07 - 26.10.2026

October 26, Fineko/abc.az. China's domestic passenger vehicle market is set to stage a modest recovery in 2027 after experiencing a sharper-than-expected downturn this year.

Domestic car sales are projected to decline to 18.5 million units in 2026, down from 23.7 million in 2025, before rebounding by a median 2% in 2027, according to Cui Dongshu, secretary-general of the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).

Cui noted that the recovery will be driven by the fading of short-term headwinds, easing cost pressures, and improved product offerings, though market competition is expected to become increasingly polarized.
