October 14, Fineko/abc.az. According to the Financial Stability Report of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan for the 1st half of 2026, calculations carried out with the sue of the new methodology applied from this year did not reveal the need to change the maximum interest rate on protected deposits.

According to the new approach, the interest limit on deposits protected in manats is adjusted in accordance with the actual deposit rates on the market.

Thus, the CBA calculates twice a year the average interest rate for the sector for deposits of individuals placed for the period of 9 months to 3 years, and adds 2 percentage points to the obtained indicator. The result is presented to the Deposit Insurance Fund.

Since in the 2nd half of 2025 the average market rate on long-term deposits in manats was 10%, on January 28, 2026, the Fund's Board of Trustees decided to keep the maximum rate on manat deposits at 12%.

The marginal rate on deposits in foreign currency remains unchanged at 2.5%. These figures do not represent the fixed rates offered by banks, but the maximum annual rates at which deposits are insured.

Upon the occurrence of an insured event, the Fund pays compensation to each individual depositor in the amount of up to 100,000 manats for deposits in banks participating in the insurance system.
