October 13, Fineko/abc.az. The development of cooperation in the field of digital payments between the Turkic states is important for the expansion of mutual trade and tourism.
Zakir Nuriyev, the chairman of the Presidium of the Azerbaijan Banks Association, made this statement at an event dedicated to the program of the Baku fintech sector trade delegation organized by the Fintech Alliance of Turkic States (TURKFIN).
According to Nuriyev, one of the most important strategic tasks is to further deepen the mutual integration of the countries' financial infrastructure.
"Our main goal is not only to establish technical links between payment systems. We strive to create conditions under which individuals and businesses will be able to carry out financial transactions between our countries more conveniently, faster, safer and at minimal cost. This will improve the efficiency of cross-border payments and transfers, simplify access to financial services, reduce operating costs, and strengthen trade and investment ties between our countries," Nuriyev said.
He stressed that the integration of financial infrastructure will eventually contribute to closer economic integration of the countries.
"In this area, the study of payment systems, the convergence of regulatory approaches and the exchange of experience in the field of customer rights protection are of great importance. We consider it useful to implement joint pilot projects and expand cooperation to make better use of the existing infrastructure," ABA’s head added.
