Saudi Arabia Boosts East-West Pipeline Capacity to 5.8 Million Barrels Per Day

October 6, Fineko/abc.az. Saudi Energy Minister Abdulaziz bin Salman announced that the operational capacity of the East-West Crude Oil Pipeline ("Petroline") has reached 5.8 million barrels per day (bpd). The 1,200-kilometer pipeline, stretching from Abqaiq to the Red Sea port of Yanbu, serves as Saudi Arabia's primary overland bypass to the Strait of Hormuz.

The pipeline, operated by Saudi Aramco, plays a critical role in maintaining global oil supply following the maritime disruption in the Strait. Despite a temporary 11-day shutdown in September due to drone attacks, restoration efforts are progressing toward its maximum design capacity of 7 million bpd.
