Market should not ‘drown’ in manats - Central Bank thus ‘sterilizes’ excess money

September 10, Fineko/abc.az. When there is an excess supply of dollars in the foreign exchange market, the surplus is withdrawn by the Central Bank through purchases, but the large mass of manats entering the system creates risks for interest rates and financial stability.

To prevent these risks, the main bank uses sterilization and liquidity management tools.

The aim is to neutralize the inflationary impact of excess manat liquidity resulting from currency interventions and not to upset the balance in the money market.
