Global Markets Slip Amid Middle East Tensions: Gold Drops Below $4,300

11:07 - 2.09.2026

September 2, Fineko/abc.az.  A fresh escalation of conflicts in the Middle East has triggered a wave of sell-offs across both bond and equity markets.

Concerns over the Strait of Hormuz combined with rising global bond yields pushed the MSCI Asia Pacific index down by 2%. Meanwhile, Brent crude rose 0.8% to $95.35 per barrel, alongside multi-month highs in European natural gas prices.

Gold Price Impact: As rising interest rates diminish the appeal of non-yielding bullion, gold extended its decline, dropping another 0.7% to just below $4,300 per ounce following a nearly 6% pull-back over the preceding three days. Strategists view the move as part of a volatile high-beta market cycle.
