August 31, Fineko/abc.az. According to National Bank of Georgia data for July 2026, Russian ruble deposits in the country's banking sector reached 98.6 million GEL (approx. 3.1 billion rubles).

This figure represents a 48% increase compared to the same period last year and a 33% jump from June 2026. Ruble deposits began rising significantly in July 2022, reaching a peak of 121 million GEL in March 2025 before temporarily declining and subsequently resuming an upward trend.

Despite the surge, ruble deposits account for just 0.13% of total bank deposits in Georgia.
