August 24, Fineko/abc.az. As part of reforms to improve tax regulation in the digital economy, the State Tax Service under the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan has electronically registered 4 more international companies for VAT purposes.

The companies include US-based Anthropic, PBC and Aghanim Inc., Switzerland-based eBay Marketplaces GmbH, and Netherlands-based Netflix International B.V. Their VAT registration will officially take effect on September 1.

Under recent amendments to the Tax Code, electronic registration becomes mandatory for non-resident digital service providers with an annual turnover in the country exceeding $10,000.

Banks will not withhold VAT on payments made to registered entities; instead, these digital suppliers will calculate, declare, and remit the VAT directly to the state budget.
