August 20, Fineko/abc.az. Gold prices traded comfortably above $4,500 per ounce, hovering near a two-month peak according to market updates from FXStreet.  The surge was driven by the U.S. Treasury's plan to double liquidity support for longer-dated buybacks, which pulled down Treasury yields and weakened the U.S. dollar. Spot gold touched $4,525.79 per ounce, marking its highest level since June 2.

U.S. gold futures for December delivery advanced to $4,569.80. Safe-haven demand remains elevated as total U.S. national debt surpassed $40 trillion for the first time, stoking fiscal sustainability concerns. Among other precious metals, silver climbed to $67.06, palladium rose to $1,339.05, while platinum dipped to $1,816.78.
