July 2, Fineko/abc.az. This year, the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic imported 50 boxes of mulberry seeds, and 2,880 kg of wet cocoons were produced at the end of the season.

This figure is 31.1% more than last year.

According to the yield indicators, village Airinj of Shahbuz region took 1st place with average yield of 110 kg per box, while village Shikhmahmud of Babek district took 2nd place with average yield of 103 kg. These results placed Nakhchivan in 1st place in the country for production of wet cocoons, with average yield of 57.6 kg per box.

According to the production indicators by district, 577.88 kg were produced in Sharur district, 565.1 kg in Ordubad, 555.72 kg in Babek, 395.3 kg in Kangerli, 276.1 kg in Julfa, 229 kg in Shahbuz, 195.4 kg in Sadarak, 85.5 kg of wet cocoon in Nakhchivan and sent for processing to Azəripək JSC located in in the city of Sheki.

In order to stimulate activities of silkworm breeders, the State pays a subsidy of 6 manats per kg of wet cocoon.

In addition, the company that purchases the product pays 5 manats per kg.
