July 1, Fineko/abc.az. The goal of modern auditing is not to find errors, but to improve public administration, ABC.AZ reports, quoting Accounts Chamber’s chair Vugar Gulmamedov.
He noted that public procurement is one of the most important areas of expenditure in public finances, and an important indicator is the share of funds allocated in this area in GDP, as well as in the State Budget expenditures: "Public procurement has a direct impact on the economic development and fiscal sustainability of a country. This creates new and more challenging responsibilities for public audits. The primary goal of modern audits is no longer simply to identify flaws. Instead, the primary objective of higher audit bodies is to assess how public funds are converted into value and determine their impact on economic development. In today's world, audits should not be viewed as a means of finding errors, but rather as an institution for improving public governance."
