June 22, Fineko/abc.az. This February, Action Plan 2026-30 to ensure the efficient use of water resources in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic was approved.

ABC.AZ informs that Agriculture Minister Majnun Mammadov said this in an interview with journalists in Nakhchivan.

He noted that this ensures improvement of water supply to territories, creation of modern irrigation systems, construction of reservoirs and other infrastructure facilities.

The meeting sides also discussed how the launch of the Zangezur Corridor would contribute to economic development of Nakhchivan. It was noted that implementation of the State Program will create conditions for expanding production and processing capabilities, as well as products entering new export markets.

Referring to yield forecasts, Mammadov noted that one of the main goals of the State Program is to increase yields through introduction of modern irrigation systems and expansion of advanced agrotechnical methods. One of the goals set in this direction is to achieve an average wheat yield on irrigated land of up to 5 tons per hectare. Cotton production also provides for an increase in the average yield in the country to 5 tons.

"The use of modern irrigation systems and agrotechnical care will also increase yields on other agricultural crops. The main goal of the State Program is to get more and better products from each hectare at a lower cost of resources," the minister added.
