June 12, Fineko/abc.az. The Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) has released specific statistics regarding counterfeit national and foreign currency notes detected and extracted from the domestic financial system during the fiscal year.
According to ABC.AZ, referencing the operational summary, anti-counterfeiting protocols and strategic alignment with law enforcement intelligence have been heavily prioritized.
Breakdown of the confiscated counterfeit instruments:
National Currency: A total of 440 counterfeit AZN banknotes were successfully intercepted and pulled from public circulation, carrying an aggregate face value of AZN 39,000.
Foreign Currency: Audits identified 550 foreign currency notes displaying clear indicators of structural forgery.
The Central Bank confirmed that all seized fraudulent paper instruments were immediately cataloged and handed over to law enforcement authorities for criminal investigation and enforcement actions.
