June 9, Fineko/abc.az. Thinking in the field of digital banking must change.
ABC.AZ reports that SWIFT's CIS and Caucasus Manager Irina Lorer made this statement at the X International Finance & Banking Summit in Baku.
"The main mistake is to focus only on technologies. In my opinion, it is necessary to apply a broader approach and consider operational processes as a whole. For example, in the field of payments in the region, there is often a problem when banks operate at certain hours, usually from 09:00 to 18:00, and after that time all operations, including payments, stop. As a result, the client is forced to wait for the next business day for the payment to be completed.
However, customer expectations have already changed — the world has long moved away from this model. Users expect instant payments 24/7; this applies not only to domestic, but also to cross-border transactions. This, in turn, requires banks to change their thinking and operational models. And this is just one example - there are quite a lot of similar situations," she said.
